“Boogaloo Mardi Gras Pt. 1 & 2 was recorded by the Bobby Williams Group in 1960′s and was produced by NOLA legend Eddie Bo (you can read more about Bo on the highly-recommended Funky 16 Quarters). Bobby Williams was a New Orleans drummer who cut two singles, including this one, with the Seven B label during the 1960′s. Williams here is accompanied by bassist Paul Boudreaux, guitarist Louis Clark and an unknown trumpet player (potentially Eddie Bo). Williams lays out a tremendously raw, funky backbeat with some serious bounce which is complimented perfectly by the Boudreaux’s bass line and Clark’s guitar riffs. I need to note that the tracks on the original 7″ were most likely mis-titled. This seems likely because Pt. 1 picks up where Pt. 2 ends. For this reason, I’ve re-titled these tracks in what I believe was the intended order and noted the change in the comments section of the individual MP3s’ tags. I hope you enjoy!

Hi; I’m Paul Boudreaux the bass player on Boogaloo Mardi Gras. I’m in New Orleans La.
working with my own band (The All Purpose Blues Band). It is nice to hear those old
tracks. Bobby Williams has past,I see Lewis Clark every now and then.
New Orleans is still booming with great music.
